OS 4.0 iPhone announces 7 new features

    2010 - 05.20

Although most of us aren’t over our IPad hangover yet considering it has only been out a few days, Steve Jobs announced at a big event new OS 4.0 IPhone features. OS 4.0 iPhone is based on seven “tentpole” features, each of which is supposed to make the iPhone better. However, only the iPhone 3G or 3rd generation iPod Touch models will be able to support OS 4.0 for the iPhone. The operating system might otherwise be purchased with same day loans.

The first iPhone 4.0 feature is multitasking

It’s what many, many people were hoping OS 4.0 iPhone features would include – and now it’s here. It isn’t going to be true multitasking on the iPhone. The OS 4.0 iPhone will have a way of pausing and minimizing the processor load of applications instead. Pandora, VOIP calls and games will continue to “run” in a “dock” at the bottom of your screen, and OS 4.0 iPhone operations will switch quickly between the apps. Any conversations, such as IM or Twitter, are not currently included in the multitasking on OS 4.0 iPhone operations.

Folders are the second OS 4.0 Feature

One of the most popular hacks for unlocked iPhone and iPad systems was simple – adding folder management. Now users won’t have to hack in the iPhone just to organize their applications into folders as they will be able to with the OS 4.0.

The third OS 4.0 feature is enhanced mail

The OS 4.0 iPhones will have enhanced mail that creates a unified mailbox. All of your e-mails will be dumped into the same box no matter what source they come from, or into their own folders if you choose. Also, conversations will be a way that the OS 4.0 iPhone sorts messages.

The fourth OS 4.0 iPhone feature is the iBook

Now the iBook application will be available to those who have OS 4.0 iPhone. Buy, read and enjoy books on your iPhone. Pretty simple, though dangerous to any bibliophile’s debt management plan.

OS 4.0 iPhone Feature 5: Enterprise Features

The fifth feature of the OS 4.0 iPhone is really a suite of features targeted for the 80 percent of Fortune 100 companies that use the iPhone. There will be better data protection, mobile device management, app distribution, and VPN options. Ask your IT guy if you need help breaking those down.

OS 4.0 iPhone Feature 6: Game Center

The App store currently has over 50,000 game titles. Now, OS 4.0 iPhone users will be able to have a “social gaming platform” – kind of like Xbox Live for iPhone users. Matchmaking, achievement tracking, and leaderboards for the games you waste time playing on the bus ride to work.

The seventh OS 4.0 iPhone feature, iAd

Steve Jobs didn’t pull any punches when he talked about the advertising platform on OS 4.0 iPhones. To put it bluntly, he said “we think most of this kind of advertising sucks.”Supposedly, iAd will give the opportunity for over 1 billion advertising impressions a day – basically, 10 ads a day will show up on your OS 4.0 iPhone if you use apps for 30 minutes. The ads on iAd, though, look more like apps that run in apps. {Jobs promises “interactive” and “emotion-filled” ads}. App developers who allow iAds on their app will get a 40% split of the advertising profit.

When is the OS iPhone 4.0 going to be available?

If you are a developer, then OS 4.0 iPhone kits are available today. This is to ensure that when OS 4.0 iPhone sales start – in the summer – that there are lots of applications available. If you are an iPad user, then the OS 4.0 iPhone will be released in the fall.

Is The PC Operating System Relevant?

    2010 - 05.07

Operating system software is a task performed each time an individual uses the computer. It is impossible to use a computer without operating system software. What is system software? System software is a combination of the operating system and the many other utilities which cause any computer to perform.

When thinking of software in regards to the computer, it can be a matter of confusion, especially for those who aren’t familiar with computers. Operating system software refers to those programs which are the base or platform enabling other programs and applications to run and work properly. Software is a broad term in relation to computers. There is also applications software. These are programs such as Microsoft Word, programs which are installed to perform actual tasks for the user. Programs such as this are found on hardware, in this case a disk. The software for the Microsoft Word is installed to the computer from the hardware.

For the individual who’s new to computers and intimidated by the technical terms, operating system software simply means, operating the bones of the system. Without bones, the human body wouldn’t have any structure or form. The same can be said for the computer, without system software, the computer would be void of the essentials required to run properly. Operating system software requires an operating system such as Windows, DOS or whichever program the individual chooses. Once the appropriate operating system is installed, the computer is equipped with the bones of the operation. From there operating system software means implementing this base operating system along with its utilities, to ensure the other installed applications run proficiently.

With the amount of information available nowadays regarding computers, programs, software, hardware and operating system software, there shouldn’t be any reason for an individual to feel inadequate or intimidated when others begin to toss around technical jargon about computers. The internet is a great resource for computer information including operating system software. Besides the internet there are many books and magazines published to target those interested in computer technology.

New Operating Systems Will Use Fewer System Resources

    2010 - 02.05

It’s easy to look back fondly on the days of MS-DOS. In days of old, a simple series of characters launched any computer program. This command handled all of the related dependencies that allowed the code to function. Essentially, you simply had to type a command into a black screen with a single cursor. The shiny operating system developed as a response to the consumer demand to click on a graphical icon. To the computer novice, this seems much easier than writing a text command. In reality, though, this development caused a whole new rash of complications to the computing experience.

Firstly, graphical representation of your software environment uses system resources. While this may not seem significant for the average user, this can become a massive issue if you intend to stress your system to its full capacity. As more consumers began buying these operating systems, software developers began to include more services in an effort to anticipate the user’s software applications. If the operating system were built with your favorite software in mind, this would be a good thing. Unfortunately, most software designers attempted to anticipate every last conceivable application that any user anywhere might choose to use. This slows your computer down much like having extra programs running.

Linux has earned the hearts and minds of many users because it permits for builds that do very little. Many versions of Linux operate in minimalist fashion; you will have to make changes to accomodate programs and dependencies as you need them. While this might feel annoying for most of us, it is great when you plan to use your machine to its full potential. Many technically minded users prefer a streamlined operating system. However, if you are looking to jump right into your favorite programs without much work, the resource heavy systems will support more of what you want to run.

Microsoft’s Windows Vista was arguably the perfect example of the extravagant operating system. Its services anticipated nearly anything a user could attempt to throw at it. Ironically, this led to an opposite inspiration for Windows 7. Windows 7 employs a lightness of resource use that competes directly with Linux.

New tech trends appear to be inspired by the desire to do more with less. There should be a future motivation to satisfy both of these interests. The newest operating system releases by all of the major players seem to speak to this consumer demand. There will always be a need for a balance between compatibility and operating system resource use.

Fortunately, we are blessed with a robust market of operating system providers. Eachnew round of releases brings different advantages. There are reasons for using all of the various modern operating system which depend heavily on their intended use. When deciding on your preferred operating system, you should carefully look into its compatibility with software that you plan on using. Each company aims to satisfy a certain niche market. Your market will be represented by at least one of the major releases at any time. Look to others that use the same software for tips on which operating system to choose.

Geek Choice is a national computer repair company that seeks to help consumers choose software that brings the best performance out of their computers. Slow computer performance could be the fault of spyware, malware, or viruses, or it could just be a matter of using the wrong operating system or hardware to meet your needs.

Compatible Google Chrome OS Version By Dell

    2010 - 01.18

Google’s Chrome OS, perhaps, is the most awaited thing in 2010. The fact that everything is going to be on cloud and that users will not have to install anything (any tools, softwares etc.) makes Google Chrome an awesome thing. A software that will work both as your operating system and the browser is a must thing to have in your system. Also, it is said that with Google Chrome as your Operating system, it would take only seven seconds to get on to Internet.  Well, that’s definitely too quick!

I did know about all this (the news of Google Chrome OS is everywhere), but was quite amazed to know that Dell has already made available a compatible version for mini 10v netbook users. I found the information on this tech blog – onlygizmos.com. I personally am excited to use the actual Google Chrome OS, but until then Dell version would be a good thing to try out.

Anybody can download this 10v compatible version from the link given on the post – Dell Honours Geeks, Gives Chrome OS to Play With. There is also a link to the instruction set on how to download and use the version. It’s a simple work. Can load the file in a USB and then get on using it.

Dell users are sure having a great time getting to use the Google Chrome OS, a 10v version though. Until the actual Google Chrome OS is released in the market for public usage (and that’s not until 2010), all internet fanatics may use this compatible version by Dell.

But a word of caution: The application has a few issues, so users please be very cautious while downloading and using it. WiFi connectivity can be a problem. Nonetheless, it is worth trying out Dell’s work.
